Their proficiency has allowed them to acquire internationally recognized expertise, making the Centre a leading research institution in Quebec.

Born of its founder, Doctor Armand Frappier, the Institut Armand-Frappier INRS Centre has a strong tradition of research geared towards prevention and the betterment of human health. A visionary man and pioneer in vaccination in Quebec, Doctor Armand Frappier built institutions dedicated to research. In 1938, this eminent microbiologist has setup Quebec's first research institute specialized in public health: the Microbiology and Hygiene Institute of Montreal which has become since the Armand-Frappier Institute, and in 1998 became part of INRS University, and as such, the Armand-Frappier Institute of INRS University.
