Dr. Armand Frappier

Dr ARMAND FRAPPIER (1904-1991)

As a doctor, microbiologist, professor and researcher, Dr. Armand Frappier made prodigious contributions to the improvement of public health in Québec, and has invigorated research and the training of researchers in that field.

Deeply affected by the death of several close ones by tuberculosis, and very much aware of the challenges surrounding the fight against infectious diseases, Armand Frappier decided to take tuberculosis head on first in what was to become his life long battle against infectious diseases.

Today, his institute, which is a member of the Instituts Pasteur International Network, trains researchers who work in the most critical areas of public health.

On Wednesday, March 21, 2012, Dr Armand Frappier and six of Canada’s most distinguished medical leaders were inducted into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame.
