MISSION

The Armand-Frappier Foundation of INRS University is a non-profit organization which actively contributes to the advancement and level of excellence of the research conducted at the INRS into some of our society’s highest priority problems, solutions to which could change the world.

FINDING SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS FACING OUR SOCIETY

Conducting applied and fundamental research essential to the advancement of science in Quebec and around the world, our research teams plays a critical role in finding solutions to problems facing our society. For over 40 years, INRS has contributed to science and the training of highly qualified students in sectors of great strategic importance for our society: water, earth, and environment; energy, materials, and telecommunications; human, animal, and environmental health; and urbanization, culture, and society.

FOUR RESEARCH CENTRES

The Eau Terre Environnement (Water Earth Environment) Research Centre   
can count on some 40 professors whose work involves issues concerning the protection, conservation, and development of land and water resources based on a multidisciplinary approach.

 

 

The Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications (Energy Materials Telecommunications) Research Centre 
is a centre of excellence in research, innovation, and graduate and postgraduate education in the fields of advanced materials, nanotechnology, photonics, telecommunications and sustainable energy.

 

The INRS–Institut Armand-Frappier Research Centre   
boasts a strong tradition of research geared toward prevention and improving health

 

 

The Urbanisation Culture Société Research Centre  
plays an active role in finding solutions to the problems facing our society.

 

 

 

HISTORY OF THE FOUNDATION

The Armand-Frappier Foundation has been established in 1978 to  contribute to the advancement of medical research at l’Institut Armand-Frappier (which evntually became the INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier Centre). Since its creation, the Foundation has awarded more than 9,5 million in scholarships, research chairs, purchases of scientific equipement or support to innovative projects at the INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier Centre.

The Foundation has supported the continuation of the work of Dr. Armand Frappier, founder of the Institut de microbiologie et d'hygiène de Montréal (IMHM), which was created in 1938. The institute took on the name of its founder in 1975, after its affiliation to the Université du Québec in 1972.

In september 2012, the Armand-Frappier Foundation became the Armand-Frappier Foundation of INRS University.  Therefore, its mission has been extended to contribute to the four Research centres of INRS:
